What is Visionary Art?
Somehow I have always known there was a part of us all deep within that knows that there exists within us a ‘Higher Self’ for us to connect with whenever we choose. To go beyond the level of the thinking mind and tap into this area within ourselves leads us to touch upon higher intelligence within, an intelligence that is not of the mind, but of the heart. This higher intelligence is connected to Divine Source, Higher Consciousness, All That Is, the terminology is not important.
I tend to use soft pastel chalks predominantly in my work, this medium lends itself naturally to the essence of the forms I have channelled in the Ascension Gallery.
When I’m painting I always ask first to get out of my own way! I may sometimes use a crystal, rock or image which is placed on the paper, I then ask for the energy of that object to be shown to me as I paint. What does it want to show me? What forms will be created on the page? The journey of creating what can be termed as spiritual or visionary art, never fails to hold excitement and magic for me. For who knows what will turn up! It is living in the Now, no planning required!
